ATLANTA, GA. (August 30, 2016) – The Georgia Game Developers Association announced today that award-winning game producer Nick Laing will keynote the 10th annual Southern Interactive Entertainment and Game Expo (www.siegecon.net) Oct. 8. Laing, senior producer on the popular Forza Motorsport franchise, has distinguished himself developing a wide variety of games, including educational titles.
“Laing is one of those rare people who has handled almost every game development role there is,” said SIEGE Director Andrew Greenberg. “From game design to audio to art to production and more, few people have as keen an insight into what makes a good game as does he.”
Laing worked in comic books prior to entering the video game industry in 1999. Since then, he has worked on games ranging from award-winning "edutainment" games to massive AAA blockbusters with publishers including EA and Microsoft. He has worked with teams of two up to teams of more than 200.
“One of the lessons game development has taught me is the importance of personal leadership,” said Laing. “The most important thing someone in my position can do is develop the leadership abilities of my team. It’s an honor to be invited to speak at SIEGE conference on how to stimulate leadership development within your team.”
Laing joins an already distinguished line up of speakers in SIEGE’s renowned IGDA Leadership track Oct. 7 - 9, put on in conjunction with the International Game Developers Association. This track focuses on advancing knowledge for leaders in the games industry and includes content of interest to senior management, newly formed teams, large departments, small startups, outsourcers, contractors, and others. The Leadership track offers the most pertinent and contemporary firsthand accounts and concrete lessons that can be readily applied by session attendees.
