Entertainment Software Association Joins Local Leaders to Analyze Explosive Growth of Video Game Industry, Explore its Future

ATLANTA, GA. (Sept. 28, 2016) – The Georgia Game Developers Association (GGDA) and the Southern Interactive Entertainment and Game Expo (SIEGE) announced today that the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) will participate in a forum at this year’s event on the future of the video game industry.

The Oct. 8 forum will focus on how the industry has expanded, as well as the greatest opportunities for and threats to future growth.

“No other association is as instrumental to the success of the video game industry as ESA,” said Andrew Greenberg, Executive Director of the Georgia Game Developers Association. “While most gamers know ESA for its success in defeating censorship, it also continually advances the business landscape that makes our industry so strong and exciting.”

ESA runs E3, the world's premier computer and video game event, and conducts extensive advocacy and research to foster economic growth and to support the impact of the industry. Its ESA Foundation also funds projects that use games and game tools to improve education, health and more.

“Video games are the world’s most dynamic and compelling art form, and its ability to captivate and engage audiences of all ages is unparalleled,” said Rich Taylor, ESA’s Senior Vice President of Communications and Industry Affairs. “Our industry defines the intersection of creativity and technology, and we are increasingly finding unique ways to transcend entertainment and to enhance our society.”

ESA offers a wide range of services to interactive entertainment software publishers, including conducting business and consumer research, providing legal and policy analysis and advocacy on First Amendment, intellectual property and technology/e-commerce issues, managing a global content protection program, owning and operating E3 and representing video game industry interests in federal and state government relations. For more information, visit ESA’s website or follow us on Twitter at @RichatESA or @ESAGovAffairs.

Taking place in Atlanta, GA, the Southern Interactive Entertainment & Game Expo [SIEGE] is the largest professional game development conference in the Southern United States. Since 2007, SIEGE has featured leading figures from the industry and has hosted panels reflecting a wide spectrum of the game production industry including artists, programmers, designers, investors, writers, teachers and business executives. The event also showcases a College Fair for high school students and a Game Studio Investment Conference.
