Senior Xbox Software Engineer Gersh Payzer to Keynote SIEGE

“Climbing Your Skill Tree" Is Theme for Game Development Conference

ATLANTA, GEORGIA (Sept. 14, 2017) – The Georgia Game Developers Association announced today that award-winning game engineer Gersh Payzer will keynote the Association’s 11th annual Southern Interactive Entertainment and Game Expo (www.siegecon.net). Payzer, who has worked on award-winning games as well as great game consoles, is now part of the Microsoft team revolutionizing game streaming.

“Payzer’s career has ranged across some of the most innovative products in the game industry,” said Andrew Greenberg, SIEGE conference director. “From work on award-winning indie games to such great AAA titles as Rise of the Tomb Raider to the Xbox360 to the Xbox One, he has left his mark where it counts. Payzer’s work on the Mixer livestreaming service has the potential to drive both the game industry and all of entertainment in a whole new direction.”

Payzer was one of the first engineers on the Xbox One. He has also worked on Xbox 360, Kinect, [email protected], Twitch, Halo and XNA. Payzer started in the games industry as an independent developer and is an IGF award winner. He currently works on Mixer, the first livestreaming platform to support near real-time interactivity.

“Livestreaming has already become the dominant way for fans to enjoy watching people play games, and the industry has just scratched the surface of what is possible,” Payzer said. “Interactive livestreaming opens a new, blue ocean of opportunities. It represents one of the most fundamental shifts in how game makers design and market games. This phenomenon is still in its infancy and there is a brief window for first movers to take advantage.”

Payzer joins renowned game designer Jesse Schell as one of the two keynotes for SIEGE2017. Taking place in Atlanta, SIEGE is the largest professional game development conference in the Southern United States. Since 2007, SIEGE has featured leading figures from the industry and has hosted panels reflecting a wide spectrum of the game production industry, including artists, programmers, designers, investors, writers, teachers and business executives. The event also showcases a College Fair for high school students and a Game Studio Investment Conference.
